Owner and baker, Fred Spompinato, has a passion
for bread making that was fueled by trips to Europe and his time as a
partner/baker in the Farm to Market Bread Company. He soon realized he wanted
to create bread on his own terms, producing the finest breads at a scale that
still provided him the quality of life he wanted. Fervere uses only the finest
organic ingredients, the bread is made mostly by hand, which is baked in their
custom brick oven. There is a seriousness to this bread that is reflected in
the simple, beautiful loaves. The best bread in town is about $6 a loaf. Try the
Orchard Olive Rosemary. CALL: ahead to reserve a loaf of the kind of bread you want, ready to pick it up.

somewhat faded, but push open the door and smell the fresh baked Mexican bread
and pastries telling you that you are in the right spot. Glass cases are filled
to the top with colorful cookies and pastries filled with tropical fruit paste
like pineapple and guava. English is the second language here, but if you point
to what you want, then hold up your fingers in the number you would like,
communication is no problem. They count the number of pastries and point to a
chart on the wall to the price you owe. Cost is about .50 cents per pastry. VISIT: on the weekends, when you can
also buy terrific tamales to go.

Craig
Adcock, owner of Belly Up BBQ, has been running his successful barbeque
catering business for several years in Kansas City. As delicious as his
barbeque is, his clients kept asking for dessert. So, he stole his Mother’s rum
cake recipe and started making and selling Jude’s Rum Cake. This cake took 8
years and several high-end Caribbean rums to perfect. This is a wonderfully
fragrant and heavy cake with the consistency of a rich pound cake. A regular sized cake is $45, and a small cake is $25. He offers the
rum cake, with or without pecans. Get the pecans; it makes all the difference
in the flavor. ASK: Craig about his
dry barbeque rubs. He sells one for beef, pork and seafood and they are all
amazing.
So much variety of yummy foods. Love to eat.
