A good locally owned restaurant in the suburbs is a rare find, and local businessmen Doug Price and Carl Brandt would like for you to put their place on your list for breakfast and beyond. Open at 7:00 am, this colorful upscale “diner” clearly has made a commitment to breakfast with a menu featuring 19 different kinds of Eggs Benedict. Try the Eggs Hussarde Benedict for $9 and get Holland Rusk topped with perfectly poached eggs, Canadian bacon, tomatoes, Marchande de Vin (a red wine & veal stock reduction) and Hollandaise. A side of hash browns with blue cheese crumbled in comes with your breakfast. CRAVE: something sweeter? They make a wonderful sour cream pancake that you must try.

The Boot

Chef/Co-owners Aaron Confessori and Richard Wiles have more culinary acts up their sleeves than you can imagine. As current owners of the Westport Café & Bar and the Westport Street Fare Food Truck, their newest venture is located right next door to the Café called The Boot, a reference to the part of Italy that inspired their menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and rustic, with punches of red and a full bar. The food also shows much promise with house-made pasta, locally made Krismann sausages, hearty entrees and pizzas. Get the seasonal soup of the day to start and then try the spicy Pappardelle with sautéed squid, tomato sauce and hot pickled peppers. DRINK: Italian red wines, with this kind of rustic Italian fare, you will want a glass of Italian red to go with it.

Yum! Every single one of these dishes/places looks truly delectable.
